Robyn Kahukiwa - Feautres in Art New Zealand Issue Number 140

Robyn Kahikiwa features in the lastest edition of Art New Zealand "Trusting Intuition - A conversation with Robyn Kahukiwa" by Hamish Clayton. In September of this year, Robyn Kahukiwa received the Te Tohu Toi Ke award from Te Waka Toi, the Maori arm of Creative New Zealand. This was an acknowledgement that, over 30 years, Robyn has 'made a difference' both in New Zealand and beyond. To read more - see Art New Zealand Issue #140

Amy Melchior - Review in New Zealand Herald, Saturday 19th November

Amy Melchior's exhibition "Scratching the Surface" featured in the New Zealand Herald's Art review on Saturday 19th November. T J McNamara stated,"The transparency of the wax allows it to dissolve the lower layers of the painting and its malleable quality also allows her to etch lines on the surface. Each painting seems to have at least three levels of perception. The result is a charming and rich decorative quality,...."

Fatu Feu'u - Review in New Zealand Herald 27 August 2011

Fatu Feu'u's exhibition "Po Uliuli Poutasi" featured in the New Zealand Herald on 27 August 2011. TJ McNamara states" One large work is particularly powerful because it alludes to a single event - the Tsunami of September 29, 2009....This work has many of the characteristic features of Feu'u's work but it has a special place of its own as a memorial to a way of life".

Auckland Art Fair 4th-7th August

The Auckland Art Fair opened last night with the Vernissage Event. The Gallery is showing a range of works by Artists represented by the Gallery. This view of the Stand (Stand 8)shows Alexander Bartleet's "White Rough Cube" work, work by Fatu Feu'u, Robyn Kahukiwa, Mark wooller and Tyrone Layne. The Fair is open until Sunday - Don't miss it.

Philippa Blair Herald Review - July 9th 2011

Philippa Blair's exhibition "Camouflage" featured in the New Zealand Herald Art Review on Saturday 9th July 2011. Mark Wooller Herald Review - April 2011

Mark Wooller's exhibition "The First Post" featured in the New Zealand Herald Art Review on Saturday 23rd April 2011. T J McNamara stated "The landscapes are shown as vast tracts of primordial kauri forest - a forest of mythical proportions. These are the basis for a visual meditation on early land transactions in our history." The show is on view until Saturday 20th April 2011.

Alexander Bartleet 10,000 Objects

Over 200 hundred people viewed the Preview of Alexander's first solo show on Tuesday 15th March, with a number of the works selling on the night. Congratulations to Alex on a successful exhibition. Featured in the image on the right is Warwick Brown (writer), the artist Alexander Bartleet, and Gallery Director, Warwick Henderson.

Nick Wall - NZ Herald Review Sat 6th March 2011

Nick Wall's exhibition "Diodic" featured in the New Zealand Herald Art Review on Saturday 6th March 2011. T J McNamara stated,"The surfaces are impressive, ranging from delicately shaded backgrounds to plain circles of almost dazzling colour. The surfaces, which are mostly higly polished, have been created by the application of layer after layer of paint. They are given extra shine by a final layer of synthetic varnish, giving a surface as smooth and reflective as glass". The exhibition closes on Saturday 12th March 2011.

Haneui Kim - NZ Herald Review Sat 4th December 2010

Haneui Kim's exhibition 'No Dilemma' featured in the NZ Herald Art Review on Saturday 4th of December. TJ McNamara writes that "The women are associated with falling patterns of water and flowers. The effect can be charming as in 'Dreaming for Dreaming', or melancholy as in 'Shame' where six women crowd together using their hair as a defence and grasp desperately for the flowers. The works are all acrylic and the colour is soft and appealing..."

Fatu Feu\'u - NZ Herald Review Sat 17th July

Fatu Feu'u exhibition "Fa'aola" featured in the NZ Herald Art Review on Saturday 17th July. TJ McNamara states "Construction rather than deconstruction is characteristic of the colourful work of Fatu Feu'u at the Warwick Henderson Gallery". "This can easily be accepted as a tribute to the struggles to rebuild in Samoa after the recent tsunami yet it is also richly decorative celebration".

Rozi Demant - NZ Herald Review May 15th 2010

Rozi Demant's latest exhibition "Portraits" featured in the New Zealand Herald art review on Saturday May 15th. TJ McNamara says "Although only in her early 20's she has already had seven solo exhibitions and always sells exceptionally well. Hitherto her work had a genuinely surreal quality but was very self-consciously sweet". The show closes on Saturday 29th May 2010.

Robyn Kahukiwa - Herald Review October 09

Robyn Kahukiwa's latest Exhibition "Power to Define" was featured in the Art Review section of the New Zealand Herald - 10th October 09. TJ McNamara says "Her work is about Maori and the interaction of Maori and Pakeha". " The paintings that feature only Maori are strong and simple. April Shin's latest exhibition "At Dusk" was reviewed by T J McNamara in the Weekend Herald 11th October 2008. T J McNamara states.."This may be Browns Bay but the colour and hazy nature of the images, as well as the swirling brushwork, create a dream-like presence that expresses a warm sense of nesting and home".

December - Barry Lett - Awarded McConnell Property Supreme Award

Barry Lett has been awarded the McConnell Property Supreme Award for "Big Rock Dog" which is featured in the "Stoneleigh Sculpture in the Gardens" being held at the Auckland Botanic Gardens from 4 November 2007 - 31 January 2008.

December - Alan Sommerville - Sculptor, Australia/New Zealand

Alan Sommerville is a sculptor based in Australia who has built a reputation for major Bronze work. He was commissioned to complete the Australian Anzac Memorial Soldier for the Bridge of Remembrance on Sydney Harbour, and has just been commissioned to now bookend the bridge with a New Zealand Anzac Soldier on the other side. Our Summer Catalogue introduces Alan's work and includes a superb bronze "The Light Horseman" depicting a mounted First World War Anzac. Alan's work is on view at the Gallery, and included in the Summer Catalogue which is on show until 9th February 2008.

December - April Shin Features in New Zealand Herald Arts Review

April Shin Features in the New Zealand Hearld's art review on Thursday 13th December. T J McNamara says, "Each individual tile is a little painting in its own right but, collectively, they create an autumnal atmosphere shot through with occasional shafts of light. The colour is at its best in the many shadowy shades of green, russet and brown". April's show is open until 22 December 2007.

September 07 - Philippa Blair - Exhibits at Torrance Art Museum - Los Angeles

Philippa Blair is exhibiting at the Torrance Art Museum in Los Angeles. The title of the show is "Themes and Variations: New Abstraction in Los Angeles. The show is an exhibition of abstract paintings and sculptures by 12 contemporary artists. The show runs from 8 September 2007 to 3 November 2007.
