Warwick Henderson Gallery has been operating since the 1980’s and has mounted over 300 exhibitions including group, solo, and retrospective exhibitions by artists including Robyn Kahukiwa, Dagmar Dyck, Mark Wooller, Trevor Moffitt, Dame Louise Henderson, Keith Patterson, Nigel Brown, Philip Trusttum, Fatu Feu’u, and Kase Jackson.
The Gallery was based in the Auckland inner city suburb of Parnell for over 25 years and more recently re-located to new premises in the heart of Newmarket, at Level 1, 255 Broadway. The Gallery supports a diverse range of original and unique emerging, mid-career and senior New Zealand artists.
The Gallery has also curated unique shows such as ‘The Toy in Art’, ‘Outsider Art’, ‘The Automobile in Art’, Early NZ Photography, and items from the collection of Elton John.
Gallery Director, Warwick Henderson has curated two touring shows specifically for public institutions, the ‘Toy Show’ and the ‘Games Show’. These shows toured NZ public Institutions, including the Auckland Museum for two years. In 1986 he started the first New Zealand Art Fairs (Artex™) and was co-founder of the Auckland Art Fairs in 2005. He is also the author of the seminal New Zealand Art book “Behind the Canvas – The Insider’s Guide to the New Zealand Art Market”.

Many artists are pleased to complete commissions required by clients. Please contact the gallery if you would like an artist to complete a unique and special work to your requirements. A 50% deposit is required for most commissions.
We operate gift registries for guests and contributors to a Wedding, Birthday or special occasion. This can be for a work jointly chosen by the guests or left open for the recipient to choose. The artwork must be a work currently in stock or a commission by one of our Gallery artists. Please contact us for further information.

Warwick Henderson (the Director) has been a trader, exporter and collector of art since 1979 and established Fine Art and Antique Investments (NZ) Ltd in 1980 and Warwick Henderson Gallery in 1988.
Warwick Henderson was the founder of Artex™ (The first New Zealand Art Fairs) in 1986 and initiator and co-founder of CAFADA (Contemporary & Fine Art Dealers Association, 2004-2006) and the Auckland Art Fairs in 2005. He holds a N.Z.C.C. (Customs Law N.Z.Q.A. 1977) and is a licensed Auctioneer.
Warwick has collected a wide range of art from early topographical, naive art, post-impressionism, early modern through to New Zealand contemporary art. He has written for several publications on topics from art collecting to investing in art and antique toys. He has recently written a seminal book on the New Zealand art market “Behind the Canvas – An Insider’s Guide to the Art Market” (Published New Holland 2012, Release October 2012).
Warwick Henderson also handles all fine Art valuations and appraisals for the Gallery.
Anne Gifford is the Gallery Manager and handles Exhibition Management, Sales, General Reception, Administration and Accounts. She has 15 years Sales experience and holds a Diploma in Marketing from the Auckland University Business School.
